Yep, yep, it's definitely the food that brings us together.
On a Thursday night, after finally coordinating everyone's busy schedules together, the girls got together for some slow food.
The diner chosen for our gettogether was The Point, a somewhat isolated restaurant on the verge of Steveston.

Starters: Thai Prawns, and my amature ratings give it ***!
The shrimp were good, awesome and fresh taste and texture, although I thought it was kinda bland, not only the curry sauce but the shrimp itself, too. I guess I expected better considering the seafood oriented location and reputation of the place... but "90% of what you pay for is the presentation!"

Entree: The steak looks really pale and overcooked in the picture... but it was actually quite nice and rare. Being the fussy and picky customer that I am, the kind waiters hate to serve, I sent the steak back because it wasn't rare enough, thus the plain and boring presentation; the potatoes and other vegetables had been covered by the new piece of steak. I didn't particularly enjoy the steak, . :S **1/2

Dessert: Creme Brulee
Every time I taste Creme Brulee, I'm reminded of life back in Germany. To be specific, Frankfurt in the summer. Weather wasn't always so permitting like it is here, so on occasional sunny days, we'd walk down to the park, pick up the Creme Brulee along with my favorite melon flavored Gelato, and hang out at thte park where local musicians would play our soundtrack. When you walked further into the park, you could smell the famous stink of the Bad Soden spring.
I never thought of it this way back then, but when I think of it now, I realize my town was something very much like a fairytale (and I mean this quite literally, my neighbor did live in a castle). I remember beautiful, well-decorated and.. well, German houses (how else to describe it), decorated with colorful glass ornaments and chimes, almost all of my neighbors having a crazed interest in home-decoration; and my mom's even more crazed efforts to keep up with the locals' exceptional and somewhat excessive gardening and decoration senses.
I realize I've babble on about Frankfurt, but it's definitely a place to visit at least once in your lifetime. It's a world quite different from my current home, and it was great being able to taste it again. I love a food that stirrs up some good memories. : )
